Discovering that just a stone’s throw away from your hotel in Lido di Classe there is a small tropical ecosystem, made up of rare animal and plant specimens, is the surprise awaiting the guest of Hotel Sorriso in Milano Marittima, precisely at the House of Butterflies.
A ten-minute drive from our hotel on the Ravenna shores, a world of dozens of species of butterflies awaits you, free to move about in a habitat perfectly recreated for them: this is the House of Butterflies.
With an entrance fee of just a few euros, you and your children will be treated to a unique experience. At the Butterfly House, you will experience the thrill of strolling through a pathway of plants such as banana trees and ficus, seeing brightly coloured butterflies hovering next to you, approaching you without fear.
Among the curiosities that will not leave you indifferent is the display case with the crisalids butterflies, whose different stages of evolution can be observed, and the phalenas, peculiar for the extensions of their wings, clinging to their cocoons. Hidden in the midst of the vegetation and close to the streams, there are also some nice little carnivorous plants.
Next to the House of Butterflies there is also the House of Insects, with curious specimens such as giant millipedes and strange beetles in their respective showcases, and inside a small pathway it is also possible to spy on the life of ants among bizarrely shaped tunnels and crevices.
To conclude, all that remains is a visit to the laboratory, an area where science and nature become play, with microscopes, scale reproductions, images and models related to the animal world of small invertebrates, where there is no shortage of simple and fun experiments to do;
